Professional membership for your staff
If you're looking for professional recognition for your staff, we offer two routes:
- AAT bookkeeping membership (AATQB)
- AAT full membership (MAAT).
MAAT is a fast-track route to chartered status with any of the UK's chartered accountancy bodies.
Benefits to your organisation
Demonstrate your staff’s expertise: AATs professional designations show that your staff have the real world skills needed to support your clients.
Develop their skills: Professional membership opens access to a wide range of development tools, resources and training to keep your staff up to date and ready to make an impact on your bottom line.
Broaden their skills: On top of technical and practical training, AAT provides professional members with those all important business skills, helping your finance team become invaluable business partners.
Safeguard your reputation: AAT’s internationally recognised designations are the quality mark proving not only competence, but a dedication to ethics and professional development, letting your clients know they’re in good hands.
Progression to AAT bookkeeping membership
AAT bookkeeping membership demonstrates your staff's expertise and shows they're keen to excel in their career. They'll have to demonstrate their commitment to professional development through CPD to keep their skills up to date.

MAAT status shows that your employees are undergoing CPD, are signed up to AAT's Code of Professional Ethics (PDF), and are subject to our disciplinary processes. In supporting your staff to attain AAT full membership you're investing in their career and promoting the highest standards and best practice in accounting and finance.
After five years of being a full member they can apply to become a fellow member and use the letters FMAAT after their name.
Routes to AAT full membership
To apply for full AAT full membership (MAAT status) a student must have successfully completed either:

It's also possible to apply from another professional accounting body, or with an accounting or finance degree from one of our partner universities.
