Richard Sockett’s professional or personal conduct, was found to be in breach of the Code of Professional Ethics and to have posed a risk to the public or was likely to undermine public confidence in the Association or its members; namely:
- On or around 26 March 2023, he used unprofessional and/or profane language in email correspondence with a third party.
- On or around 10 February 2023, he used unprofessional language in email correspondence with a third party
- On or around 17 December 2021, he used unprofessional language in response to a negative review of his firm on social media.
- Over an unspecified period, he used unprofessional and/or profane and/or sexually explicit language in social media posts that were accessible by the general public.
Finding
Grounds for disciplinary action existed and the matter was suitable for exercise of the Investigations Team's powers under the Disciplinary Regulations.
Order
Richard Sockett is hereby:
- Expelled from membership of AAT for a period of five years.
Consent
Richard Sockett is deemed to have agreed to submit to the decision of the Investigations Team in accordance with Regulation 6 of the Disciplinary Regulations.
