Misconduct
Maureen Bennett’s professional or personal conduct, was found to be in breach of the Code of Professional Ethics and to have posed a risk to the public or was likely to undermine public confidence in the Association or its members; namely:
1.Between on or around 24 May 2016 and around 23 May 2022,whilst a full member of AAT, she provided self-employed accountancy and or bookkeeping services and/or related services to the public without being registered or approved to provide such services.
2.Between on or around 24 May 2016 and around 23 May 2022,whilst a full member of AAT, she provided accountancy and or bookkeeping services and/or related services to the public without being registered with a supervisory authority for the purposes of Anti-Money Laundering as required by the Money Laundering Regulations.
3.Between on or around 08 May 2020 and around 12 May 2022,whilst a full member of AAT, she did not act responsibly in accordance with the requirements of an assignment, carefully and thoroughly and did not resolve issues concerning the alleged incorrect filling of a client’s accounts.
4.Between on or around 30 March 2022 and around 08 May 2022,whilst a full member of AAT, she failed to handover information to an incoming accountant upon request, in a timely manner.
Finding
Grounds for disciplinary action existed and the matter was suitable for exercise of the Investigations team's powers under the Disciplinary Regulations.
Order
Maureen Bennett is hereby:
i. Expelled from AAT for a period of 5 years
Consent
Maureen Bennett has agreed to submit to the decision of the Investigations Team in accordance with Regulation 6 of the Disciplinary Regulations.
