Misconduct
Antony Butler’s professional or personal conduct, was found to be in breach of the Code of Professional Ethics and to have posed a risk to the public or was likely to undermine public confidence in the Association or its members; namely:
- Between on or around 30 August 2018 and around 16 August 2022, whilst a full member of AAT, Anthony Butler did not have adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) in accordance with AAT’s Professional Indemnity Insurance policy.
- From an unknown date, until on or around 26 July 2022, whilst a full member of AAT, Anthony Butler did not have a Trust Status Letter from his bank, in accordance with paragraph 11 of AAT's Client's Money Policy.
- From an unknown date, until on or around 26 July 2022, whilst a full member of AAT, Anthony Butler failed to issue a suitable letter of engagement, in accordance with paragraph 5 of AAT's Client Care policy.
Finding
Grounds for disciplinary action existed and the matter was suitable for exercise of the Investigations team's powers under the Disciplinary Regulations.
Order
Antony Butler is hereby:
- Fined £2,000
- Reprimanded: Reprimand to remain on Mr Butler’s records for a period of two (2) years
- Divested of FMAAT status for a period of two (2) years

Antony Butler has agreed to submit to the decision of the Investigations Team in accordance with Regulation 6 of the Disciplinary Regulations
