Enquiries into assessment results: process and timeline

Request an enquiry if you:

  • believe the result and/or percentage score for an assessment, or the overall grade and/or percentage score for a graded qualification or apprenticeship End Point Assessment (EPA), is incorrect
  • disagree with decisions made regarding reasonable adjustments or special considerations for an assessment you've taken (where an application has been made to AAT)
  • disagree with a result of an assessment carried out by your training provider
  • believe the marks for the tasks used to calculate your estimated results are incorrect
  • need more detailed feedback on your performance per task.

Results close to the pass mark

If you're considering an enquiry because your result is close to the pass mark, note the marking of all externally marked assessment scripts that fall within 2% of the pass mark is fully reviewed by the Chief Examiner before releasing the result. This is part of our quality assurance checks, to ensure marking has been applied consistently and correctly.

This means if you were within 2% either side of the pass mark for an externally marked assessment, a review has already been conducted, and it’s unlikely your enquiry is going to result in a change to your mark. You're welcome to raise an enquiry if one of the above situations still applies to you.

Apply as an individual

Complete the Stage 1: Enquiry (individual) form (PDF).

You may request a review of one or more results within the timescale.

Apply for a group

Training providers and employers can request a review for a group of two or more students.

Complete the Stage 1: Enquiry (group) form (PDF).

Send your completed form to assessment.operations@aat.org.uk.

The fee is £39 per student, per assessment.

AAT will conduct a detailed review of your assessment and provide detailed feedback on your performance in each task. Human marked tasks taken as part of a computer-based assessment will be reviewed by someone who wasn't involved in the original marking.
