Christina Earls installed as 42nd AAT President

Christina Earls has been installed as the 42nd President of AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), succeeding Heather Hill in the role. 

She will remain AAT President until September 2023, with Kevin Bragg taking over her role as Vice President. 

Christina was the first in her family to go to university, gaining a place at Hull University where she read politics. After graduating, she got a job in revenue at Leeds City Council, then worked across different departments in five local authorities, going on to be a member of CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy). 

Christina joined CIPFA’s Council in 2010 and from there was invited to stand as a co-optee to AAT’s Council. Shortly afterwards, she formally applied to become an AAT member and became a fellow of AAT five years later. 

Christina’s focus as President will include supporting social mobility, helping students develop a personal ethical code to support them through the challenges of their career, and making AAT more sustainable. 

Following her appointment as President, Christina said: 

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have been elected President of AAT. It’s been a great honour to work as Vice President supporting Heather in her role. I’ve particularly enjoyed meeting members and students from all backgrounds – something I’m hoping to continue doing as President. 

AAT qualifications are open to all – there is no age or cultural barrier – and that’s what’s so appealing. AAT gives people life-changing opportunities, wherever they are in their professional journey, and also helps ensure all our members and students are able to continue developing their skills and technical knowledge. I’m looking forward to working closely with Sarah and the team to help make even more students and employers aware of how AAT can help them – showing that AAT really is for everybody.

Christina was installed as the new President at AAT’s AGM on 16 September. The AGM was run as a hybrid meeting enabling members to either attend in person or join remotely and included a presentation of AAT's Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2022.
