Join our new organisation as Senior Finance Assistant and deliver specialist finance services to support all aspects of our customer focussed finance service.

This is a busy team, and we need someone who understands deadlines and prioritises workloads, with the confidence to liaise with all levels of management. It is a great opportunity for a qualified AAT looking for a role from which they can progress within the authority – or a newly qualified AAT with the skills to step up.

This is not a requirement for the role but there if you wish to further your qualifications whilst with us. 

Key responsibilities include: 
· Provision of timely and effective financial information to stakeholders, supported by robust research, analysis and evaluation of information that can inform decision making. 
· Support and advice for internal and external customers including senior managers and governing bodies. 
· Monitoring and analysis of budgets, identify variances and provide detailed budgetary information, advice and guidance to ensure effective budget planning. 
· Regular communication and liaison with all teams operating within the service area, internal and external providers of service. 
· Maintaining and updating our bespoke information systems and databases to ensure the provision of accurate financial information. 
· Contribute to the continual development of the service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and thoughtful individual to join our group finance team. The Accounts Assistant Apprentice will play a pivotal role, taking ownership of data input for revenue recognition & accounts payable.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role offers on-the-job training, through an apprenticeship and is a great opportunity to develop new technical and practical skills.

As well as studying towards your AAT qualification, we’ll give you professional experience to put your theory into practice. 

The role – primary responsibilities:

  • Achieve a well-recognised finance qualification 
  • Support on revenue recognition for month end
  • Send out invoices & upload to portals 
  • Provide support for payment runs
  • Proactively ensure outstanding timesheets are completed from client and non-client facing teams 
  • Own the data functions on the company wide accounting system: 
    • Upload new job codes
    • Reallocate time and costs on the company wide accounting system
  • Ensure credit card expenses are recorded to Maconomy and recharged to clients where necessary
  • Deal with ad-hoc finance queries efficiently 
  • Create purchase order requests and maintain PO trackers 
  • Manage the shared finance inboxes
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Set up new suppliers

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation & strong time management skills 
  • Strong understanding & experience using Excel 
  • Pro-active attitude
  • Ability to work well in a close-knit team
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients on the account which you work
